The work, in plain language.

Roughly 10 percent of the global population lives with chronic kidney disease, and when the kidneys fail, waste products accumulate in the bloodstream. Creatinine, a byproduct of muscle metabolism, is one of the standard biomarkers used to estimate glomerular filtration rate, but tracking it currently requires regular trips to a clinic.

Creactive explored whether biosensors could shift creatinine monitoring from one-time clinical tests to continuous measurement, potentially sparing kidney-disease patients from repeated hospital visits.

The legacy project page also connected this work with the 2025 SensUs competition theme, which focused on continuous creatinine biosensors.
